Festivals And Events In Europe – April 2019

As Spring takes hold, many of the top cities throughout Europe spring into life and put on some of the best events that really put them on the map. For those who are looking for a trip to Europe, then timing your trip to coincide with some of these festivals will ensure that you really do get the most from your experience. See some of the top festivals and events in Europe during April below.

Snowbombing Festival – Mayrhofen, Austria

This amazing event takes place over the course of a week. It is consists of some of the best bands and live Djs in the world. A wide range of music is on offer and the atmosphere is electric with the alpine backdrop adding to the dramatic excitement. This is a little like Ibiza in the snow and many consider it to be one of the greatest shows one snow. The festival has won awards over the years, so it is clearly highly regarded.

Dates for this event are from 8th – 13th of April.

Scoppio del Carro – Florence, Italy

Known as the Explosion of the Cart, it takes place in the Piazza del Duomo on Easter Sunday. Easter is an important celebration to the Italians and the whole festival begins with a mechanical dove being driven from the altar during high mass. A sight to see for yourself but the atmosphere is brilliant.

The event is held on the 21st April.

Sonar Reykjavik – Reykjavik, Iceland

Sonar Reykjavik is a music festival with a difference. Many great artists from genres including hip hop and electronica come together to perform and put on a real spectacle. If you are lucky you will enjoy the amazing northern lights while making your way to and from the event. 

The festival is set out over four stages and you can choose the acts you want to see. 3500 festivals goers experience the event each night so be sure to book. 

Dates this year are 25th – 27th April.

This is known as King’s Day and is a national holiday, so as expected, the locals take it all in their stride and make the most of it. It is a huge celebration for the birthday of the king and is also known as the Orange Festival. Everyone dresses in orange, drink beer and have a massive party in the streets. The festivities usually begin the night before.

Spring Music Festival – Budapest, Hungary

This is a blend of arts, music, drama, dance and exhibitions. All of which takes place across this beautiful city where the residents embrace the friendly atmosphere and immerse themselves in the whole experience. Taking this year  from the 5th – 22nd of April.
